HC issues rule to compensate Chikungunya victims

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why compensation should not be given to Chikungunya affected people.

The court also asked why measures should not be taken to destruct mosquito at Chikungunya affected area.

The bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan came up with the rule on Sunday.

The court asked authorities concerned including health secretary to reply to the rule within three weeks.

Earlier on July 4, a writ petition was filed seeking directives to control Chikungunya broke out many parts of the country including Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet.

Supreme Court lawyer Suja-Ud-Daula filed the writ petition with the HC.
