Home Minister terms HRW report motivated

Secretariat Correspondent: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has rejected the report of Human Rights Watch (HRW) over the allegation of forced disappearance and keeping people detained in secret places by law enforcement agencies.

He also termed the report as baseless and motivated.

Home Boss came up with the reaction to the newsmen at Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday.

"The organisation also ran propaganda against Bangladesh government during the trial of war criminals. This report is also a part of that propaganda," he added.

He said, "United Nations (UN) has also a human rights organisation which says nothing in this connection. Why do they (HRW) come to tell the matter officiously?"

He also said, "I condemn and protest the report as every detainee is produced before a court within 24 hours of detention."
