JS express deep shock at tragic death toll of landslides

Parliament Correspondent: Jatiya Sangsad has expressed deep shock at the death of over 100 people including four army personnel of the overnight landslides by torrential rains in Chittagong, Rangamat and Bandarban.
Resuming the sitting of the house, Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said the last two days torrential rains triggered a series of landslides in Hill Tracts areas including Chittagong.
Members of Bangladesh Army engaged in rescue campaign in the areas immediate after the landslides, but unfortunately four army personnel including Major M Mahfuzul Haque, Captain M Tanvir Salam, Corporal M Azizul Haque and Solider M Shahin Alam met the tragedy while on rescue operations, Dr Shirin added.
"They were working there to rescue the victims but a fresh landslide virtually buried them under tones of mud," she told the House.
The Speaker conveyed deep sympathy to the breathed family of the overnight landslides affected areas including military families and those who suffered injuries.
