JS speaker flies for Vietnam

Staff Correspondent: Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker, also Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury left Dhaka today (Wednesday) on a six-day visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the Vietnamese National Assembly.

Senior officials of the parliament Secretariat saw Dr Shirin Sharmin off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

"During the visit, the Bangladesh speaker will hold meetings with Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly President Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan," according to a Parliament Secretariat press release.

Dr Shirin Sharmin will also have a meeting with Vietnamese Communist Party Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong.

Members of Parliament (MPs) Imran Ahmed, Pankaj Debnath, AM Naimur Rahman and Senior Secretary of Parliament Secretariat Dr Md Abdur Rab Hawladar are accompanying the speaker.

The speaker is expected to return home on July 25, the press release revealed.
