Staff Correspondent: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has got permanent bail in Zia Orphanage Trust Graft case.
The bench of the High Court of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Sahidul Karim gave the verdict after final hearing on a rule on Wednesday.
The senior lawyer, AJ Mohammad Ali, argued for Khaleda Zia in the court. Barrister Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan and AHM Kamruzzaman assisted him.
Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan pleaded for ACC. He said the rule was issued in 2008 against the bail granted to Khaleda Zia. But it was not filed in the ACC. The High Court granted it after the petition was filed recently.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case on July 3, 2008 accusing Khaleda, her elder son Tarique Rahman and four others for misappropriating over Tk 2.10 crore that was received as grants for orphans via a foreign bank.
