Language hero Sheikh Amanullah no more

Sheikh Amanullah
SATKHIRA, Aug 31: Sheikh Amanullah, veteran language hero and chairman of Bangladesh Teachers Association Federation, died of cancer at 12.00pm at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dhaka.
He was 85.
He left behind his wife, two sons, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
He was born at Jhapghata village under Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira district in 1929.
In 1960, Sheikh Amanullah joined as Headmaster at Kalaroa High School and retired from the service on 1996.
Amanullah had been involved in politics and cultural movement since from his student life. He was imprisoned due to active participation in politics.
He was the founder of Sheikh Amanullah College at Kalaroa and some other education institutions.
He also participated in language movement in 1952 and took part in the War of Liberation in 1971.
