Lone accused Obaidul to walk gallows for killing Risha

A court in Dhaka sentenced the main accused to death in a case filed over the murder of eighth grader Suraiya Akter Risha.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court KM Emrul Kayesh passed the order on Thursday noon.

The court also fined him Tk 50,000. Obaidul Haq was present there during the hearing.

Earlier on September 11, after hearing from both sides, the court fixed October 10 to pass the order.

On August 24, 2016, Risha was found in critical condition on a footbridge close to her school, Willes Little Flower School in Kakrail. Later, she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she died under treatment on August 28.
