Man arrested over blackmailing female doctor

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police arrested a man for allegedly blackmailing a female doctor who was serving telemedicine amid coronavirus pandemic.

The arrestee was known as Riad, a marketing officer of the same hospital.

Assistant commissioner (AC) of Cyber Security unit Dhrubo Jyotirmoy Gope confirmed the news.

He said, “The female doctor was serving telemedicine from her hospital. On May 27, she mistakenly left her Facebook account logged in while she started for home after duty. However, she immediately logged it out remotely from her home. But in the meantime, Riad downloaded several personal images from her accounts and started her blackmailing from a fake account named Iva Ahmed. The female doctor made contacts with Cyber Crime unit. Later, Riad was arrested and the fake Facebook account was recovered. Riad is a marketing officer of the same hospital.”

A case was filed in this connection, he added.
