Muktamoni's surgery on Saturday

Staff Correspondent: Doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) will conduct a surgery on the infected right hand of Muktamoni on Saturday (August 12).

There is a possibility that the hand may be removed during the surgery.

Prof Dr Md Abul Kalam, head of DMCH's Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit confirmed the matter to risingbd.com on Tuesday.

He said that the surgery will be conducted on Saturday. Already all types of necessary steps have been taken. However, permission will be taken from Muktamoni's parents before final decision in this regard.

Burn unit’s co-ordinator Dr Shamanta Lal Sen said, "We thought Muktamoni is suffering from congenital hyperkeratosis. That’s why a biopsy was conducted. But, no diseases found yet.

Muktamoni, a 12-year-old girl of Kamarbaisa village in Satkhira sadar upazila, was admitted to the hospital on July 11 with a malignant growth on her right arm. Later, she was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
