No bar to DU senate meeting

Staff Correspondent: The Supreme Court (SC) has stayed a High Court (HC) order that stayed the process for holding a special general meeting of Dhaka University (DU) senate.
With the order, there is no legal bar for holding the meeting scheduled on July 29 for electing a three-member panel for appointing its new vice chancellor, lawyers said.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order following an appeal petition against the HC order filed by DU authority on Wednesday.
The court also fixed July 30 for hearing over the petition before the full bench of the Appellate Division.
