Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) Dr Abul Kalam Azad said, ‘I did not commit any corruption while performing my duties. I have worked as an honest, efficient, gentle and talented person.’
He said this on Wednesday (July 12) after interrogation of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over mask and PPE scandal. He was quizzed from 10:00am to 3:30pm at ACC Headquarter in the capital.
Abul Kalam Azad said, ‘I worked with risk of death amid coronavirus infection. Despite being positive with the virus, I returned to work after recovery. I have always worked for the sake of country.’
He said, ‘I have recently faced conspiracies from some places. So, without grappling the post, I set an example through resigning from my post for the sake of country. I want irregularities to be tried. I was summoned. I gave my statement over the graft of mas and PPE as DG.’
