No one remained unfed during flood: Minister

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya

Secretariat Correspondent: “People in the northern areas of the country have suffered a lot but no one remained unfed during the flood. We have been able to cope with the situation with everybody’s cooperation,” said Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya.

The minister said this while addressing a press conference on flood situation in the country at the secretariat on Thursday noon.

Mentioning that the incumbent government always stands beside the flood-hit people, Maya said, “After visiting the northern districts of the country in last five days, I came to know that the people in the areas have suffered a lot but no one remained unfed during the flood.”

About the flood situation, he said floodwater has started receding from the country's northern regions. People are returning to their homes leaving shelter centers.

In reply to a query, Maya said, “All the people who are affected by flood are not eligible for getting relief. So, it is not possible to satisfy all with providing relief.”

Criticizing BNP, the minister said BNP is spreading propaganda over the distribution of relief among the flood-hit people.
