Commerce Secretary Dr. Md. Jafar Uddin has said there is no shortage of onion in the market due to sufficient stock in the supply chain.
“Consumers should not be panicked in any way as the price of onion is being lowered quickly,” he said while discussing the market situation with the importers, retailers and traders at the ministry’s conference room on Monday.
Mentioning that the volume of daily import of onion from Myanmar is being increased, the secretary said a good quantity of onion would be arrived in the country from Egypt and Turkey within a few days as necessary import processes have already been completed.
In addition, new onion from India would be imported soon, he added.
The importers, retailers and traders told the meeting that the price of onion in the market is becoming normal quickly due to continuous efforts of the government.
