Our aim is to ensure education for all, says PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

Desk Report: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "Our aim is to ensure education for all, and to achieve the goal, there is no scope to leave behind any part of the society."

The premier said this when leading alems of qaumi madrasas led by Maulana Ashraf Ali called on her at her Jatiya Sangsad Office on Sunday noon, reports BSS.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina assured Islamic scholars of giving necessary government support for overall development of the qaumi madrasa education of the country.

After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters.

The prime minister said that a huge number of students are pursuing study in qaumi madrasas and they should be brought to the mainstream of the education.

The alems thanked the prime minister for giving recognition to top Qawmi madrasa degrees as equivalent to post-graduate degrees.

"This is an epoch-making and historical decision ... this will remain written in golden letters in the pages of history," they said.

The alems recalled the contribution of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to flourishing Islam in the country.

In this context, they mentioned that Bangabandhu had given land to establish 'markaz' of Tablig Jamaat at Kakrail in the capital. "Besides, Bangabandhu allocated land on the bank of Turag for Biswa Ijtema," they said. The alems also praised Sheikh Hasina for her different steps for expansion of Islam including giving 160 acres of land for Biswa Ijtema.

The prime minister urged the alem-ulema to motivate the people to join the anti-terrorism campaign of the government.
