Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Over a hundred passengers narrowly escaped a train accident as two trains in Dinajpur managed to avoid a head-on collision.
The incident took place around 5:00am on Thursday in Dinajpur railway station.
According to sources at GRP police station in Dinajpur, a shuttle train heading towards Dinajpur from Panchagarh was about to collide head-on with a Panchagarh-bound train named Drutojan Express, which was stationed at the Dinajpur railway station. People present at the station started shouting when they observed that the two trains were going to collide head-on. Being aware of the matter, the driver of the shuttle train stopped the train several feet before the Drutojan Express. As a result, over a hundred shuttle train passengers narrowly escaped a train accident.
Confirming the incident, Dinajpur GRP police station officer-in-charge (OC) Moksedur Rahman said, "This situation might be created due to the negligence of the railway lineman. We are looking into the matter."
