Registration fee for land-flat lowered

The government has reduced the registration fee for land and flat. The new registration fee will be effective from July 5.

The law ministry issued a notification in this regard on Thursday (July 3). According to the new decision, the authority reduced the registration fee to 1 percent from 2 percent of the total price of land or flat.

Buyers will have to pay one percent registration fee of the property value, if the cost of documents fee remain under Tk10,000. However, the minimum document fee cannot be less than Tk100.

Earlier, in case of land and flat registration, three percent stamp duty, three percent value added tax (VAT) and two percent local government tax were needed to pay.
