‘Restore power in Amphan-hit areas within 24hr’

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has asked the officials concerned to take immediate steps to restore electricity to cyclone Amphan-affected areas across the country within 24 hours.

He also asked the officials to take steps to supply electricity to hospitals through emergency generators, if necessary.

The directives came from the junior minister while holding a meeting with top officials of different subordinate bodies of Power Division on Thursday through videoconference.

He also asked the officials to work through coordination among the power generation, distribution and transmission sections and take help of the Power Division. 

Power Secretary Dr sultan Ahmed, BPDB chairman Belayet Hossain, Power Cell Director General Mohammad Hossain and Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Managing Director Golam Kibria also attended the virtual meeting.
