Rules for lower court judges to be finalised Thursday

Staff Correspondent: Law Minister Anisul Huq said the rules determining the discipline and code of conducts for the lower court judges will be finalised after holding a meeting with the Chief Justice (CJ) on Thursday.

The minister told this to the newsmen after holding nearly an hour-long close-door meeting with CJ Surendra Kumar Sinha at the Supreme Court on Sunday.
 

Anisul hoped that a gazette notification on the rules determining discipline and code of conduct for lower court judges will be issued by the end of the next week.

Earlier on July 2, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) gave the government a two-week ultimatum for issuing a gazette notification on the rules determining the discipline and code of conduct for lower court judges.

According to the court order, Sunday (July 16) was scheduled for publishing the gazette in this connection.
