Savar raid: 4 suspected militants surrender

Staff Correspondent, Savar: Four suspected militants have surrendered to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) during an operation at a one-storey house which was cordoned off on suspicion of militant hideout in Ashulia of Savar.

The identities of the four suspected militants could not be known immediately.

The four suspected militants surrendered to RAB at 12:00pm on Sunday. A 20-year old youth, one of the surrendered, was seen picking at a RAB vehicle and the remaining three were taken to RAB custody near the militant hideout, Abdul Hakim, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-4 Nabinagar camp commander, told risingbd.com.

A team of RAB and local police were seen to enter the house around 9:00am and asked the people inside the house to surrender over loud speakers. A helicopter was also seen to circle overhead. Then, around 11:00am, a sustained exchange of gunfire and sounds of explosion were heard from the spot.

RAB carried out an operation after cordoning off a one-storey house on suspicion of militant hideout in Ashulia of Savar.

The operation was carried out at the house, owned by one Ibrahim, in Noyarhat's Chourabali neighbourhood on the outskirts of Dhaka since early Sunday.
