Shut unregistered boilers within 60 days: HC

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has ordered to close the boilers in the garment factory or industrial units within 60 days which do not have registration.

At the same time, the Ministry of Industries has been instructed to inspect the boilers of all factories. It has been asked to submit a report to the court on September 30.

A bench of Justice Jubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Justice Md. Iqbal Kabir passed the order on Tuesday.

Earlier on July 9, a writ petition was filed against the owner of the Multi-Fabs Ltd for blast at its factory in Nayapara area of Gazipur on November 9 and seeking compensation to the victims and providing medical treatment to the injured.

Mahfuzur Rahman Milon, Executive Director of Justice Watch Foundation, filed the writ.
The authorities have been asked to prepare the rules for the Boiler Act.
