'Take stern action against those charging extra fare'

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has directed Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) to take strict action against those who are charging additional fare in public transport.

The minister came up with the directive while talking to the top officials associated with the metro rail project through videoconference from his official residence on Wednesday (June 3).

Mentioning that charging additional fare in public transport is a punishable offence, Quader said, "I am drawing attention of the owners and those directly involved in the public transport in this regard and directing the BRTA officials to take stern action against those who are charging additional fare."
