Staff Correspondent, Savar: Law enforcers have disposed three bombs found inside the militant den at Ashulia of Savar, the outskirts of Dhaka.

A bomb disposal unit of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) started to defuse bombs on Sunday afternoon, after four militants surrendered.

The first sound of explosion was heard around 2:50pm. Since, a total of three sound of defusing bombs were heard till the report was filed around 4:45pm.

Mufti Mahmud Khan, Director (legal and media) of RAB, said several strong explosives were found inside the den after the militants surrendered. A unit is working to defuse the bombs gradually.

The four militants were identified as Mozammel Haque, Rashedun Nabi, Alamgir Hossain and Irfanul Haque.

After the raid, Mufti Mahmud Khan said in his official speech that the four militants rented the house a month ago identifying themselves as garment workers.  They did not give any document to the house-owner while renting it.

"They were members of Sarwar-Tamim group. They were brought to Dhaka for interrogating. Hope, much information will be found as they were arrested alive," he added.

The four militants surrendered to RAB at 12:00pm, Abdul Hakim, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-4 Nabinagar camp commander, told risingbd.

A team of RAB and local police were seen to enter the house around 9:00am and asked the people inside the house to surrender over loud speakers. A helicopter was also seen to circle overhead. Then, around 11:00am, a sustained exchange of gunfire and sounds of explosion were heard from the spot.

RAB carried out an operation after cordoning off the one-storey house on suspicion of militant hideout in Ashulia of Savar.

Law enforcers started the operation at the house, owned by one Ibrahim, in Noyarhat's Chourabali neighbourhood on the outskirts of Dhaka early Sunday.
