Two killed in gas cylinder blast in oil-laden vessel

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: Two workers were killed and two others burnt in the incident of a gas cylinder explosion in an oil-laden vessel at a dockyard in Shikalbaha area of Karnaphuli upazila in Chittagong on Monday afternoon.

The deceased were known as Mohammad Masum, 22, and Mohammad Rashed, 21.

Karnaphuli Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sayedul Mostafa confirmed the news.

He said, “The incident took place when repairing work was going on in a vessel named MV Desh-1 at dockyard in Shikalbaha, leaving two workers dead and two others burnt.”

“The injured were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment in critical condition,” he added.
