'UN to take initiatives to return Rohingyas'

Secretariat Correspondent: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the United States (UN) will take initiatives for discussion to return Rohingyas from Bangladesh to Myanmar.

The Minister came up with the statement after a meeting with the delegation of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) at his office on Sunday noon.

He said, "We informed UNHCR delegation that around 5 lakh Rohingyas are staying in the country. The environment and security are at risk due to their living here."

In this context, the Chief of the delegation said they would take initiatives to arrange discussion with Myanmar over Rohingyas and later inform the development to Bangladesh, he added.
