'Vessels without fitness would be stopped'

Secretariat Correspondent: Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said the vessels which have not fitness and would carry extra passengers must be stopped during Eid.

Stern actions would be taken against those who will violate the directions, he added.

The Minister told this to the reporters after a programme at Shipping Ministry on Thursday.

He said agencies including mobile courts and Cost Guards will work for preventing irregularities during the Eid rush.

"We declared in 2016 that no launch capsize would be occurred. Hope, such accident would not be happened this year too. Bangladesh Inland Water Authority (BIWTA) along with concern organisations will take steps in this regard," the minister added.
