Walton Compressor factory to begin production in March

Staff Correspondent: Walton has set up a compressor manufacturing factory at Chandra in Gazipur with 40 lakh pieces annual production capacity. All work process including building infrastructure, setting up machineries, recruiting engineers, officials and workers are almost done.


The long wait will end in March this year with the official inauguration of the compressor factory. With the launching of the factory, Bangladesh will emerge as 15th compressor production country in the world while 8th in Asia.


SM Ashraful Alam, Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited (WHIL), made the above disclosures on Tuesday at the daylong 'Walton Plaza Conference-2016' organized by Walton Micro-Tech Corporation at Chandra in Gazipur.


He said the launching of the compressor production factory will be a milestone for Bangladesh. The image of the country will reach new height in international arena. A new horizon will be initiated in technology based product manufacturing sector of the country.   


SM Ashraful Alam said equipped with latest technology and machineries, Walton factory will manufacture 40 lakh pieces high standard world class compressors. After meeting the local demand, 25 lakh pieces compressors will be exported to international market. Walton Compressors will be able to grab the major share in international market. The scope of replacement guarantee in consumer level will be increased to ensure the high quality and standard of Walton made compressors.


He also said consumers in local market will be able to enjoy notable price cut on Walton brand refrigerators once the factory starts manufacturing compressors. Besides, Walton will be able to supply world standard fridges in international market from this year.


Earlier in the morning, Eva Rizwana, Walton Group Executive Director and Chief Coordinator of Marketing department inaugurated the daylong Plaza Conference.  


SM Nurul Alam Rezvi, Vice-Chairman of Walton Group, was present in the function as chief guest. SM Nazrul Islam, Chairman of Walton Group, SM Shamsul Alam, Walton Group Managing Director and Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited Chairman, Walton Group Directors SM Rezaul Alam and Raisa Sigma were among other top officials present as special guests.



A special presentation on Walton laptops was held in the conference. SM Rezaul Alam, Director, Walton Group, spoke on the standard, quality, prices and future plans of Walton laptops.   


The top officials of Walton Group exchanged their views with Plaza Managers, Assistant Managers and IT Managers on strategic sales management of new and fresh diversified products including Walton Laptops, Compressors, and electric Switch-Sockets etc. for the year of 2017.


Over 700 Plaza Managers from 48 zones across the country, Assistant Managers and IT Managers took part in the daylong conference. Walton officials welcomed them with flowers. The Walton factory complex got festive mood with the presence of Plaza officials.



They visited various production units of Walton Hi-Tech and Micro-Tech Corporations and observed the production process of Walton fridges, televisions, air conditioners and other electronics and home appliances. They were amazed by witnessing the ultra-modern machineries used in production, process of ensuring quality control and other work process.


27 Plaza officials were rewarded in the conference for their outstanding success in increasing the sales in 2016. Among them, 3 got Dhaka-Bangkok-Dhaka family air tickets while 3 others were given Dhaka-Kathmandu-Dhaka family air tickets. The rest of the 21 were given Walton Home and Electronics appliances including Walton Fridges, LED Televisions, Washing Machines, Micro-wave Oven and Smartphones.  


The daylong conference ended with a pleasant cultural programme.
