Water transport workers to go on strike from July 24

Staff Correspondent: Transport workers declared to go on indefinite strike from July 24 to press home to meet their 21 demands.

Bangladesh Noujan Sramik Federation revealed the work abstention at a press briefing at National Press Club on Saturday.

Chowdhury Ashiqul Alam, General Secretary of the federation, said, "We urgently pressed our 21 demands to Water Transport Department, Prime Minister Office (PMO) along with all ministries and authorities concerned. On July 9, through district administrator and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and July 12, we submitted memorandum of our demands to the Prime Minister directly.

"We will start our strike from midnight of July 23 if the authorities fail to meet our demands," he added.
