Youth killed in Akhaura ‘gunfight’

Brahmanbaria Correspondent: A youth has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the police in the district’s Akhaura upazila.

The gunfight took place around 3.00am on Saturday at Nurpur village of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Jalal Uddin Badu (32), son of Daru Mia at Boutala village of the upazila.

Two policemen-ASI Md Selim and constable Noyon Bikash Chakma-were injured in the gunfight.

There were five cases including drug and stealing against Jalal Uddin.

SI of Akhaura Thana Nazmul Hasan said Jalal Uddin was arrested on Friday morning and on his confessional statement along with him police went to Nurpur village to recover drug.

Senescing the presence of law enforcers, associates of Jalal Uddin opened fire forcing the policemen to back fire that triggered a gunfight.

Jalal Uddin received bullet-injury during the gunfight and he was immediately taken to Akhaura Upazila Health Complex where duty doctors declared him death.
