Youth killed in Gopalganj clash

Gopalganj Correspondent: A youth has been killed in a fierce clash between two groups of the district's Kashiani upazila.

Arif Kazi, 35, son of   Fazlu Kazi of Falsi Nizamkandi village of the upazila, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Gopalganj sadar hospital early Wednesday.

Mohabbot Hossain Jewel, chairman of Nizamkandi union, said there has been a long standing dispute between the groups of Haji Nowsher and Mokhlesur Rahman alias Muku Master of Falsi Nizamkandi village over establishing supremacy in the area. People of Nowsher made an attack on our way to Muku Master's house when I accompanied by several people going on invitation there around 10:00pm on Tuesday, leaving Arif Kazi and Kamal Sheikh injured.

The injured were taken to Gopalganj sadar hospital where Arif Kazi succumbed early Wednesday.

AKM Ali Nur, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kashiani Police Station, confirmed the news.

Police have been deployed in the area to avoid unwanted incident.  The body would be handed over to family after autopsy, he added.
