Bangladeshis stranded in Kuwait need to wait more

The Bangladeshis stranded in Kuwait will have to wait more time as Kuwait to operate commercial flights is based on 3 progressive stages due coronavirus outbreak.

Commercial flights between Bangladesh-Kuwait was started from this month after three months of halt.

However, Kuwait cabinet didn’t allow Bangladesh to start flights in the country in the first phase. As a result, the Bangladeshis in the country will have to wait.

Bangladesh embassy in Kuwait said, already over one thousands of Bangladeshis have returned home by special flights. In the last flight, some 385 Bangladeshis arrived Dhaka by a special flight from Doha on Friday (July 3).

Of the 17 international flights, flights from Bangladesh to London and China routes are only opened right now. Bangladeshis are being returned home by special flights only. But, interested returnees cannot comeback home till regular flights starts. On the other hand, the cost of special flight is too high.

Following the issue, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said, Kuwait started their commercial flights in three stages. Discussion will be taken to include Bangladesh in the second phase.
