TCB to sell onions at Tk 30 from Sunday

State-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start selling onions at Tk 30 per kg in 275 mobile trucks across the country from Sunday (September 13).

The state marketing agency will sell onions at this price every day till October 1 except Friday and Saturday.

A press release published on the website of TCB on Friday (September 11) came up with the information.

A buyer can buy a maximum of two kg of onion, according to the press release.

In addition, a buyer can buy a maximum of 2 kg of sugar and lentils at Tk 50 per kg and two to five liters of soybean oil at Tk 80 per liter.

According to TCB, in the current coronavirus and post-flood situation, 40 trucks will sell these products in Dhaka, 10 in Chattogram, 7 in Rangpur, 5 in Mymensingh, 5 in Rajshahi, 5 in Khulna, 5 in Barisal, 5 in Sylhet, 5 in Bogura, 5 in Cumilla, 3 in Jhenaidah and 3 in Madaripur.

Besides, TCB will sell the goods in two mobile trucks in each of the remaining districts (including upazilas).

Products will be sold in additional 5 trucks in the upazilas covered by the TCB regional office and in additional 13 trucks in flood-hit districts and upazilas considering the situation.

Each truck will have 500-700 kg of sugar, 400-600 kg of lentils, 700 to 1000 liters of soybean oil and 200 to 400 kg of onion, TCB said.
