Walton awards ‘Smart Fridge, Smart Maker’ video contest winners

Country’s electronics giant Walton has awarded the winners of its ‘Smart Fridge, Smart Maker’ video contest, organized by Walton Refrigerator Department.

Among the 10 contestants in the final round, K M Ashraful Islam became champion while Shahed Shahrukh and Jannatul Khan Riki secured the 1st and the 2nd runner-up respectively. The other top seven contestants, positioning from 4th to 10th consecutively, were Samiul from Asrus’s Team, Das Sourav from Kolpochitra Production, Abdus Salam from North Shot, Abdullah Al Mamun, Mahbub Talukder from Market Geek, Tamanna Nasrin and Imran Nazir Srabon.

The jury of the final round of the video contest, including National Film Award winner Nargis Akter, The Daily Prothom Alo Journalist Monzur Kader Zia and Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited (WHIL) Deputy Managing Director Md. Humayun Kabir, declared the winners of ‘Smart Fridge, Smart Maker’ video contest at a splendid ‘Award Giving Ceremony’ held at Walton Corporate Office in the capital on Thursday evening last (February 4, 2021).
In the function, the champion of the video contest was awarded Tk 1 lakh as the first prize while the first and the second runner-up were received Tk 50K and Tk 30K respectively as the second and the third prize.

Besides them, Walton Refrigerator also gave away Tk 15K and crest to each of the other top seven winners of 4th to 10th position.

The award giving ceremony was also attended, among others, by WHIL’s Deputy Managing Directors Nazrul Islam Sarker, Eva Rezwana Nilu and Amdadul Haque Sarker, Executive Directors SM Zahid Hasan, Uday Hakim, Mohammad Rayhan, Firoj Alam, Ariful Ambia, Anisur Rahman Mallick and Amin Khan, Deputy Executive Director Shahjalal Limon and other senior officials of the company.

Expressing his reaction, K M Ashraful Islam said, “I am very happy securing the champion of ‘Walton Smart Fridge, Smart Maker’ contest. This is a great achievement in my life. From childhood, I have been dream of becoming a film maker. Now, I have been moved one step ahead to make my dream true. Thanks Walton for arranging such a contest.”

The first round of Walton Smart Fridge, Smart Maker’ video contest was held during the month of December, 2020.  A total of 82 contestants submitted their video content that were made on Walton fridge. Of them, total of 10 contestants, who obtained the highest marks in the first round out of 100 marks comprising 25 marks on the content story, 50 marks on the content development and the rest 25 marks on the social media activities of the contestant, were qualified to the final round of the video contest, along with the award of Tk 20K.

Then in the final round, the ten contestants were made another video content on Walton fridge with the theme of patriotism. Based on total 100 marks, combining 50 marks on the video content development and 50 marks on the social media activities of the contestant, the jury ranked the top ten winners of Walton Smart Fridge, Smart Maker’ video contest.
