Walton Hi-Tech Industries becomes highest taxpayer

Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd has received a tax card and crest as the highest taxpayer.

Additional Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd Abul Bashar Hawlader received the tax card and crest from Dhaka Zone-4 Tax Commissioner Ahmed Ullah on Thursday (February 11).

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has given a total of 141 tax cards and crests in the categories of individual, institution and others in the 2019-2020 financial year.

On this occasion, NBR organized a tax card and crest giving ceremony. Revenue officials and tax card holders from all tax regions took part in it virtually.

According to the sources, 76 tax cards have been given at the individual level, 53 at the company level and 12 at other levels.

According to the National Tax Card Policy-2010, a certain number of individuals, companies and other taxpayers who pay the highest income tax at the national level are nominated for the NBR tax cards on the basis of income tax paid for the previous tax year.

Individuals, who get a tax card, will enjoy five special benefits for the next one year.

Out of 76 individual taxpayers, five are in the senior citizen category. They are Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, late chairman of Transcom Group Latifur Rahman and Directors of Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills Ltd Ali Hossain Akbar Ali, Matiur Rahman and Dr. Mostafizur ahman.
