Walton gets title sponsorship of ‘Big- 2021’ grand finale

Country’s giant electronics brand Walton has become the title sponsor of the grand finale of ‘Bangabandhu Innovation Grant’ (Big -2021)’

In this regard, a tripartite agreement was signed among Walton, Idea Project and Windmill, advertising agency of the competition, at Walton Corporate Office in the capital on Wednesday (October 13, 2021). 

Abul Kalam Ahsanul Azad, national consultant of Idea Project, Likat Ali, deputy managing director of Walton DG-Tech Industries Limited, and Sabbir Rahman Tamim, managing director and chief executive officer of Windmill Advertising Limited, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

Azizul Hakim, executive director of Walton Digi-Tech, was also present. 

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Idea Project of the ICT division has arranged the competition on a virtual platform for startups and innovators.

The competition received more than six thousands startups from all over the country and also 255 startups from abroad. Of them, 75 local startups were selected in two rounds.

A special reality show 'Big-2021' of 13 episodes, broadcasted every Friday and Saturday at 8 pm on the private TV channel 'DBC News' and Facebook, was held to choose the best 26 startups from among them.

A total of 46 startups, including 10 will then be shortlisted for the grand finale, including 26 selected start-ups, 10 internationally selected startups and the top 10 startups under the Idea Project portfolio.

Along with the 26 startups, more 20 startups, including 10 startups from international level and 10 startups from the local portfolios under the Idea Project, will be selected for the grand finale of the competition.

Of them, 36 startups will be selected as the winners in the final round of the competition.

Each startup will receive a grant of Rs 10 lakh. And the best of them in the grand finale will get the special award of 'Bangabandhu Innovation Grant 2021 (Big)' and the prize of one lakh US dollars. The country's renowned businessmen and investors will be present in every episode of the reality show. If they like any startup, they will be a guaranteed investor.

Walton is the title sponsor of this colorful event with the participation of local and foreign startups and innovators.
