The government has decided to increase the cash incentive on sending remittance to 2.5 per cent from the existing 2 per cent.
It will be effective from Saturday (January 1, 2022).
This increase of cash incentives against remittance is a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the expatriate Bangladeshi workers marking the New Year, according to a press release sent by the finance ministry on Saturday.
It also said authorities took the decision to encourage more migrant workers to send money through legal channels.
