LPG price slashed by 4 per cent

The energy regulator has re-fixed the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) of private companies.

Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Monday reduced the retail price of LPG cylinder by around four percent.

According to the new rate, retailers will be able to sell 12kg gas in LPG cylinder at Tk 1178, down from the existing price of Tk 1228.

BERC announced the new price at a press briefing on Monday.

The new price will become effective from Monday evening, BERC Chairman Abdul Jalil said while announcing the new price.

He said they re-fixed the price as per the new rate of the Saudi Contract Price.

Making the announcement, Abdul Jalil said the price of retail LPG has witnessed the fall as the bulk LPG of Saudi contract price (CP) has declined globally.

The BERC chairman said the price of the state-owned LP Gas Company's LPG will remain unchanged as it has no relation with the global market price.
