Growth-oriented fresh export policy for three years

Following the export-oriented growth strategy, the Ministry of Commerce has formulated an export policy for the period 2021-2024. 

The draft export policy will be presented to the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs for approval.


This information was given by sources of the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday (January 11).

According to the draft policy, one of the objectives of the export policy is to create massive employment through export growth, bring a fair balance in the import-export trade and make a significant contribution to the national economy. 

In addition, to bring dynamism in trade through continuous development of the desired export-friendly environment, increase trade capacity, strengthen Bangladesh’s position in competitive world trade and develop the country’s economic activities.

Export policies are formulated every three years that are in line with the government’s priority plans for economic development, the needs of the export sector and the world trade situation and context. In this continuity, export policy-2021-2024 has been formulated.

Mentionable, the term of the three-year export policy formulated for the period 2018-2021 has expired on June 30, 2021. According to the Ministry of Commerce, the Export Policy-2018-2021 will remain in force till the Export Policy-2021-2024 is finalized.
