Milad-Doa Mahfil held for Prof. KM Mohsin

A prayer-mahfil has been organized by the ‘English Alumni Association’ and ‘Elite English Club’ on the death of Dr. KM Mohsin, vice-chancellor and professor of history of the Dhaka International University.

This grand prayer-gathering was held on the evening of Friday (February 26) at the permanent campus of the university. The event was also attended by teachers and students from various departments including the English Department of DIU.

Shah-Alam Chowdhury Himu, teacher and additional registrar, said, ‘The death of a historian like Prof. Dr. KM Mohsin means the death of a part of the history of the country. Dr. KM Mohsin was a wise man. He was an enlightened person.’

Earlier, the DIU Vice-Chancellor and Professor of History department Dr. KM Mohsin, 84, passed away at the Uttara Crescent Hospital in the capital on February 22 (Monday).

It is learned that he has been on life support for a long time. He left behind two sons and daughters and numerous admirers and well-wishers.

Prof. Dr. KM Mohsin was also the President of Bangladesh Academy of History.

He was born on 27 May 1936 in Rajbari. He graduated from Dhaka University in 1959 and took a post-graduate degree the following year. In 1966, he did his PhD from London.

He has seven books and 35 research articles.

KM Mohsin’s Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Jami Mosque at sector-6 of Uttara in the capital this afternoon. He will be buried in Shaheed Buddhijibi Graveyard at Mirpur.
