The Islamic University Teachers’ Association (IUTA) has rejected the University Grants Commission’s uniform policy on recruitment and promotion of teachers in public universities.
A press release, signed by IUTA president Professor Kazi Akhtar Hossain and its general secretary Professor M Mostafizur Rahman, confirmed the matter on Friday.
The policy framed by the UGC was inconsistent with the rules of autonomous universities and was an obstacle to higher education and research because all the public universities have own policy to run their activities.
IU Teachers’ Association strongly condemned the policy and rejected it, the press release said.
On March 25, UGC sent a guideline to all public universities of the country to formulate up-to-date policies for the recruitment and promotion of the teachers in the universities.
