The students of Islamic University demonstrated on the campus in Kushtia on Monday demanding reopening of residential halls and the university.

Around 50 students of different departments gathered in front of the university's main entrance and rallied there to press home there around 12pm.

Later, the students held a mass signature campaign offline and online.

They demonstrated on the campus as the government did not reopen the educational institutions, one of the agitating students said.

We want to appear at the examinations physically not online, he added. Shahadat Hossain Rajin said, 'We want to reopen the campus soon and to sit in the exams maintaining health guidelines'.

Otherwise, we will have to face the session alliance called curse, Rajib said.

They also demanded to reopen all educational institutions and normalize education activities.

The students also warned to go for a tougher movement if their demands were not met soon.

IU treasurer Professor M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya said that they would take necessary measures regarding reopening the campus and halls in an academic council meeting if there was no government restriction on it.

The students, however, submitted a memorandum to the university treasurer demanding reopening residential halls and the campus on Saturday.
