NSTU teacher Arpita dies in New Zealand

Arpita Roy, an assistant professor of the Department of Microbiology at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), died in New Zealand on 12 September.

According to the university sources, she suddenly fell sick on the evening of September 12. She was later taken to hospital and her condition was deteriorating. Later she was taken to ICU and died while undergoing treatment at night.

Arpita Roy was staying in New Zealand since 2019 for PhD from the University of Otago. She completed her graduation from the University of Dhaka in Microbiology and worked for the NSTU as Assistant Professor.

Confirming her death, chairman of the Department of Microbiology, Professor Dr. Firoz Ahmed said, that Arpita Roy was died on (September 12 around 8 pm (Bangladesh time). The death of Arpita Roy has cast a shadow of mourning among the teachers and students of the university. We have lost our colleague forever. We extend our deepest condolences to her family.

NSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Didar-ul-Alam expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Arpita Roy. The VC conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul.
