IU BCL demands reopening of halls

The former leaders and activists of Islamic University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, a student wing of ruling Awami League, on Thursday placed a three-point demand to the university authorities including reopening of residential dormitories as early as possible for the students of the university.

A group of 10 to 12 BCL IU unit activists led by its former assistant secretary Faisal Siddique Arafat submitted a memorandum to the university pro-vice-chancellor Professor M Mahbubr Rahman.

Their three demands are cleaning the whole campus, different buildings, playgrounds, reopening of residential halls and setting up a Covid-19 health center on the campus.

Among others, IU BCL unit former vice-president Al-Amin Joarder, former organising secretary Tawkir Mahfuz Masud, Shahjalal Islam Shohag and Bipul Khan were present on the occasion.

IU pro-vice-chancellor said that they would try to implement the demands made by the university unit BCL activists, adding that a vaccination center would be set up on campus if the opportunity arises.
