Tourist spots in Sylhet closed

The local administration has declared all tourist destinations in Companiganj and Gowainghat upazilas for unidentified period due to the worsening flood situation in Sylhet.

Two Upazila Nirbahi Officers confirmed this.

With the announcement, tourists will not be allowed to visit popular spots Jaflong, Bichhanakandi, Ratargul, Panthumai in Gowainghat, and Bholaganj Sada Pathor and Utma Chhara in Companiganj.

Gowainghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Towhidul Islam said, “As the flood situation has worsened in the upazila, tourist centres have been shut for the public interest and to ensure public safety.”

Companiganj UNO Sunjit Kumar said the tourist destinations will remain closed until further notice.
