Microbus falls into canal: 7 of a family killed

At least nine people including seven of a family were killed after a microbus carrying passengers from a wedding party fell into a water canal in Amtali upazila of Barguna on Saturday noon. 

The microbus was crossing a bridge in Haldia Bazar area of Chaura union at around 2:30pm. The bridge broke down and the microbus fell into a canal.  

The deceased were identified as Rubia, 45, Raiti, 22, Fatema, 35, Zakia, 35, Rukait Islam, 4, Tahia Mehjabin Azad, 7, Tasfia, 14, Ridhi, 4, and Rubi Begum, 35.  

Among them, seven were members of a family at Sahapara village under Shibchar upazila in Madaripur district. 

With the help of locals, fire service men and policemen recovered nine dead bodies.
