Highest taxpayer ‘Hakimpuri Jorda’ owner Kaus Mia dies

Kaus Mia, owner of Hakimpuri Jorda and one of the highest taxpayers in Bangladesh, passed away early Tuesday (June 25) at a private hospital in the capital. He was 94.

He breathed his last around 12:40am at Asgar Ali Hospital, said his son Jahangir Mia.

Kaus Mia, one of the highest taxpayers in Bangladesh for 26 years, had been suffering from old-age complications for long.

He left behind his wife, eight sons, eight daughters and host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

Family sources said, the namaz-e-janaza of Kaus Mia will be held after Zuhr prayer at the Armanitola playground in Old Dhaka. He will be later buried at Azimpur graveyard.

Mentionable, Kaus Mia was awarded the best taxpayer in the ‘Senior Citizen’ category for the tax year 2021-22. In the previous few years, however, he was awarded in the best taxpayer in businessman category.
