18 areas categorised as ‘red zones’ in Kushtia

Authorities have categorised 18 areas in Kushtia sadar and Bheramara upazila as red zones over coronavirus infections.

Muhammad Musabberul Islam, Nezarat Deputy Collector (NDC) of Kushtia District Administration, confirmed the news on Monday noon.

He said, “A public notice is being prepared over the purview and restrictions of red zone which will be announced through loud speakers in concern areas.”

The red zone includes eight wards of Haripur union under sadar upazila and Kushtia municipality. The wards are: Kamalapur, Thanapara, Kuthipara, Chourohas, Adarshapara, Housing, Kalishankarpur, Baradi, Jagoti, Chechua and Kumargara.

Bahirchar and Chandgram union of Bheramara upazila is also under the purview of red zone. Besides, Farakpur, Nawdapara, East Bheramara, Kuthibazar, South railgate and Bamonpara areas are also under red zone.

District civil surgeon H M Anwarul Islam said, “District administration was asked in written to lockdown red zones.”
