Six sued over prisoner missing from Kashimpur jail

A case has been filed against six people over missing of prisoner, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case, from Kashimpur Central Jail-2 in Gazipur.

The jail authorities filed the case on Friday afternoon. In addition, a probe body has been formed to investigate the incident.

Inspector General (IG) of prisons Brigadier General A K M Mostafa Kamal confirmed the news on Friday afternoon.

He said, ‘A three-member committee has been formed to investigate into the incident of missing a prisoner. The committee was asked to submit report by three working days. Jail Super and Jailer among six of Kashmipur jail have already been temporarily suspended.’

Baharul Alam, Jailer of Kashimpur-2 jail, said prisoner Abu Bakar Siddique, hailed from Shyamnagar of Satkhira, went missing since Thursday evening. He was firstly sentenced to death in a murder case. Later in appeal, the death penalty was commuted to life imprisonment.

Abu Bakar Siddique was sent to Kashimpur jail from Rajshahi jail on June 14, 20211. He was found while counting prisoners on Thursday evening.
