Man dies from electrocution at Basail

A youth has died from electrocution while driving machine-run boat at Basail in Tangail.

The deceased was known as Shipon Sarkar, 35, son of Punya Sarkar of Basail Prubapara. He was a labourer.

Quoting witnesses, ward councillor of Basail municipality Sazzad Hossain Alal said Shipon was driving engine-run boat to part at ghat from work on Friday afternoon. He came to contact with a live electricity wire while the boat reached near Gobinda Government High School area. He was skidded off the boat after contacting with electricity. Other people of the boat rescued him and took Upazila Health Complex. Later, he was whisked off to Tangail General Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.
