PM not to visit Tungipara Aug 15

Though Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visits Tungipara to pay homage to the Father of the Nation on National Mourning Day (August 15) every year, she is not visiting the place this year due to coronavirus outbreak, according to different sources.
She, however, will join programmes of National Mourning Day of Tungipara through video conference.
Gopalganj district information officer Muinul Islam confirmed the matter.
He said, ‘On behalf of Prime Minister, the Military Secretary and some central leaders of the Awami League will pay homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at 10:00am on August 15 (Saturday). Guard of honor will be provided by three forces at this time.’
It was learnt that AL leader Lt Col (retd) Muhammad Faruk Khan MP among several central AL leaders will pay tributes to Bangabandhu’s altar on behalf of PM.
Then, homage to be paid at the altar of Bangabandhu's mausoleum on behalf of the district administration, police administration, district Awami League and allied organizations. Milad and prayer mahfil will also be held at 11:30am.
