30 metric tons of onion arrives from Myanmar

A total of 30 metric tons of onion have arrived from Myanmar. A trawler carrying the onion reached Teknaf land port of Cox’s Bazar on Friday (September 18) noon.

Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, Manager of United Land Port, confirmed the matter.

He said, “Onion was imported from Myanmar after nearly three months. Kaniz Enterprise imported the onion with the supervision of C&F agent “Seven Star Enterprise”. The onion will be unloaded on Saturday after getting clearance of all documents.”

Teknaf Land Port Customs Officer Mohammad Absar Uddin said, “Importing onion from Myanmar has resumed. On Friday, 30 metric tons of onions arrived at the port. These onions will be unloaded and delivered to the market as soon as possible.

According to the Teknaf Customs Department, 21,560 metric tonnes of onion were imported from Myanmar through the port in November last year. Besides, 20,843 metric tonnes of onion were imported in October. In September this year, 3573.141 metric tons of onion were imported and in August, 84 metric tons came.
